Cadet Cadets, under 18, engage in fire service training and non-operational roles during emergency calls. They develop foundational skills, learn fire safety, and gain insight into firefighting, preparing for future roles in the department.
Probationary Firefighter Probationary firefighters complete essential training to learn fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical care. They are mentored by experienced members and gain hands-on experience, preparing for full firefighter duties upon successful completion.
Firefighter Once probation is complete, firefighters are prepared to be fully functional team members, assisting in fire suppression and emergency responses. Even though probation is over, focus remains on being part of a team, maintaining readiness through ongoing training and keeping up with fire safety practices and procedures.
Firefighter/EMT Firefighter/EMTs hold an Illinois EMT-B license and are trained in both firefighting and emergency medical services. They provide immediate medical care during emergencies while participating in fire response and rescue operations, ensuring a well-rounded response team.
Engineer Engineers are responsible for driving and operating fire apparatus during emergencies. They ensure equipment is ready for use, maintain fire trucks, and position apparatus at fire scenes to ensure efficient and effective response to incidents.
Lieutenant Lieutenants lead firefighting crews during emergencies, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently. They provide guidance and mentorship to newer members and play a key role in incident management, overseeing operations and resource deployment.
Captain The Captain oversees multiple crews, coordinating fire suppression and rescue efforts at emergency scenes. They ensure operational efficiency, manage personnel training, and support the department’s leadership in maintaining high standards of service.
Assistant Chief The Assistant Chief supports the Chief in overseeing all department operations, from training to logistics. They manage day-to-day activities, monitor safety, and step in as Acting Chief when needed, ensuring smooth leadership transition during emergencies.
Deputy Chief The Deputy Chief provides strong leadership in training and safety, ensuring personnel are highly skilled and prepared for any situation. They oversee safety standards, improve protocols, and guide the department toward operational excellence, fostering a culture of readiness and accountability.
Chief The Chief is the highest-ranking officer, overseeing all departmental functions. They lead operations, manage resources, ensure the department’s effectiveness, and represent the district to the public, ensuring the continued success and growth of the department.
